Denis Noonan - Director

Denis trained as an actor at East 15 Acting School in the 1960s, under Margaret Berry who founded the school.  Following several years work as an actor he moved into directing and teaching.  His acting experience included repertory seasons in Manchester, Leicester, Hornchurch, the Glasgow Citizens Theatre and Pitlochry Festival Theatre; as well as productions at Birmingham Studio Theatre, and the Roundhouse Theatre in London.  Denis was formerly Associate Director of Dramaworks UK, a touring theatre company which specialised in performing the works of Shakespeare and other classic plays in South East Asia.  Productions directed included Hedda Gabler, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet and The Crucible.  He also directed Scrooge at the Hackney Empire Theatre (London); A.W.O.L. at the Jermyn Street Theatre; a season of American plays at the Camden Theatre and A Play About The Bronte Sisters, which toured major Arts Centres around Britain.  

Denis Noonanʼs work as an acting coach has taken him to many centres in the UK and abroad, including the London Academy of Music And Dramatic Art (LAMDA), The Italia Conti Academy Of Theatre Arts, Mountview Theatre School.  He is an inspirational and highly regarded acting coach, whose former students have included Kate Winslet, Russell Brand and Ethan Hawke.  

 

 

Crin Claxton - Lighting Designer

Crin has worked in technical theatre for 15 years.  Her lighting designs have been seen at numerous venues across the UK and abroad, ranging from Number One venues to small and mid-scale theatres.  She has extensive lighting design and relights experience, and a strong background in touring theatre, choosing to support new and dynamic work in theatre, dance and music.   Companies she has worked for regularly include Paines Plough, RIFCO, Clean Break, Snap Theatre, Spare Tyre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Julie Macnamara, Dance Umbrella and Stratford Circus.  Theatres and spaces lit include: Manchester Arts Theatre, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Westcliff Palace Theatre, Salisbury Playhouse, The Albany Deptford, Roundhouse London, Greenwich Theatre, Diorama London, The Arcola London, Riverside Studios, The Hawth Crawley, Hackney Empire Theatre, The Lyric Hammersmith, Contact Theatre Manchester, the Lighthouse Poole, Mumford Theatre Cambridge, Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield, Soho Theatre Studio London. For eleven years Crin was the Technical Manager at the Ovalhouse Theatre London.  She now works freelance, painting light in theatres all over the UK and Europe.

 

 

Annelie Nederberg - Composer

Annelie is a Swedish composer and performer currently based in the UK.  She recently finished a Masters by Research in Musical Composition at De Montfort University in Leicester.  She also holds a BA in Music, Technology and Innovation from the same university, and has studied at Gotlands Tonsättarskola in Visby, Sweden, as well as at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden.  Annelie has a background as a sound designer at theatres in Sweden, mainly the City Theatre of Stockholm where she worked with directors such as Hilda Hellwig and Birgitta Egerbladh.  Since 2001, she has also been working with sonic art/electronic music.   She performs solo with laptop and voice and also as a member of the Leicester Philharmonic Choir and in the vocal ensemble SSSFJ.   Her music has been represented at festivals in London, Los Angeles, Nice and Amsterdam; on radio in Europe and the USA; and in concerts mainly in the UK.  In 2005 Annelie's Mon-t-v-r-di won the international competition for signature to EBUs Ars Acustica radio show.  In 2010 she was nominated for the Creative Thinking Award at De Montfort University for the music for the dance performance Unravelling Self: Strange Journey Through Old Memories.

 

 

Hilary Mc Cool - Costume Designer & Maker (Miss Julie Costume and Millinery)

Hilary McCool designs millinery and costume tailored to the individual and for theatre.  After gaining a design degree and a theoretical MA

researching the politics of dress at London College of Fashion, she travelled in Australia and Southern Africa.  After working in the service industry she returned to her first love, design; and has been working as a milliner and designer since.  Hilary has produced work for many diverse projects, including productions at the Old Vic and the Arcola theatres and hats for a photoshoot advertising South Park when it first appeared on Channel Four.  She is very pleased to have the opportunity to work with UK Touring Theatre and wishes them every success.
